What Best Seller & Verry Elleegant share

When I spotted yesterday's Gold Trail Stakes-Gr.3 winner Best Seller at a Highview Stud yearling parade, it was her walk which grabbed me.

So too did three ingredients in her pedigree, one being that like Verry Elleegant, she had the same damsire in Danroad. I've always been a massive fan of High Chaparral, so any son of his - in this case Wrote - who had the ability to win a Breeders' Cup Juvenile (Turf) had to be interesting. I love a dual presence of a great sire close up in filly pedigree & in this case Danzig shone like a beacon.

It's only the beginning for Best Seller. While she has emerged as a great early season 3YO filly talent, the penny is yet to really drop. Note also that while she got the job done on very testing conditions yesterday, she is so very much better on top of the ground.

The path to the 1000 Guineas-Gr.1 will see her back on her home track in the Hawkes Bay Guineas-Gr.2 (1400m) in three weeks time. Three weeks later it's fillies only again in the Soliloquy Stakes-Gr.3 (1400m) at Te Rapa.
