2020 New Zealand Bloodstock 3YO Filly of the Year Jennifer Eccles had a relaxing walk in the Ruakaka Beach surf this morning around 7.45am; the next part of her day is a 1200m Open Catchweight Trial here around 2.30pm with usual rider Jason Waddell up.
The New Zealand Oaks winner & 1000 Guineas runner-up came north from Cambridge on Thursday to get away from the Waikato's big wet. She worked on the beach Friday, Sunday & Monday and had a gallop in company with stablemate Fiscal Fantasy on Saturday.
Immediate plans for Jennifer Eccles are in place. She won't run in Saturday's Valachi Downs Foxbridge Plate-Gr.2 (WFA, 1200m). Instead she will kick off her campaign in the Tarzino Trophy-Gr.1 (WFA, 1400m) at Hastings, 19 September. Safely through that run she will return to Hastings for the Windsor Park Plate-Gr.1 (WFA, 1600m), 03 October. Plans beyond those two races are still to be decided - trainer Shaune Ritchie and I are looking at all the options, locally & internationally, through to the end of the year.
