NZ breeding industry's constant delivery

There's something that racing jurisdictions around the globe have come to expect from the New Zealand thoroughbred breeding community - a constant delivery of equine athletes who can perform at the very highest level on world racing stages.

It's not something new. New Zealand thoroughbred breeders have been doing it for decades - from the mighty Phar Lap (NZ) in the 1920s to a hundred years on, Hong Kong's all-time leading money earner, Beauty Generation (NZ). Inbetween times there have been too many greats carrying the NZ-suffix to mention here, but the likes of Balmerino, Sunline, Starcraft and So You Think come readily to mind.

While New Zealand racing is facing tough times - and it's been tough out there long before Covid-19 came along - the kiwi thoroughbred breeding industry has continued on doing what it does best; breeding, raising and educating great stock for international demand.

Fashions within the racing and breeding industry come and go. One thing remains constant, New Zealand's terrific ability to breed world-class racehorses.
