Jennifer Eccles, known best for her sensational New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1 success a year ago and her runaway points victory in the prestigious NZB 3YO Filly of the Year contest, is back in the stable with two missions at the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival in mind.
Rip Van Winkles' only Group One-winning daughter worldwide is gearing up for two races in Brisbane this winter. The first is the A$125,000 Bright Shadow Quality-LR (1200m) for Fillies & Mares at Doomben, 22 May. Safely through that she will tackle her main mission, the A$500,000 Tatts Tiara-Gr.1 (1400m) for Fillies & Mares at Eagle Farm, 26 June.
While Jennifer Eccles is an Oaks winner, she has actually won races at 1100m, 1600m, 2000m, 2100m & 2400m. A rider in Brisbane is yet to be determined, though it is hoped that James McDonald can be encouraged to reunite with the mare who he partnered to win the Eight Carat Classic-Gr.2 at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, 2019.
